Alison Gaylor

A graduate of the Oregon School of Massage, Alison has practiced massage since 1999. Her professional studies include Neuromuscular Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Shiatsu, Orthopedic Massage, & Thai Massage, with particular expertise in Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Prenatal, and Myofascial Release. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature, Alison obtained her license in massage therapy and shortly thereafter opened her practice in NW Portland.

Regardless of what type of massage technique Alison employs, she believes the single most important element of any massage is the quality of touch. “Ideally, my client would like me to use pressure that is not too light and not too hard, but precisely what works for them. I want my clients to leave feeling significantly better than they did when they arrived or I feel I haven’t done my job. I aim to combine the perfect pressure with a deeply relaxing experience every time.”

A collegiate level athlete, Alison continues to lead an active lifestyle and recognizes the importance of giving back to your body. She’s maintained a yoga practice for over 20 years, and when she’s not at work you might find her on the bike path, running the Wildwood trail, playing soccer at the park, hoops in Nopo, or napping with her cat, Frida.

Alison Reviews:

"The special thing about massage is that it allows us to experience our interconnectedness. So often we’re a bunch of monkeys running around with our cell phones and computers and then we get the opportunity to hop on a massage table—and we are reminded of our humanity again. This is terribly basic yet incredibly vital to keeping our minds clear and our resilience up."

I have been seeing Alison now for over a year. She helped me survive my bad back during pregnancy. Now I see her for ongoing support with rehabilitating my back and for stress relief. I was in a couple of accidents and I have seen a lot of practitioners in town. Alison is hands down the best massage therapist out there. She really knows her stuff, can help problem solve with a chiropractor and she is super cool and nice too. Awesome.

Allison is a very talented and intuitive bodyworker. She has just the right mix of deep tissue release and energetic/subtle approach. My session with her was one of the best massages I have ever received. If you can make it in for one you should go!

Allison has the most intuitive hands I’ve ever experienced. She gently seeks out all the tension in my body and without force and seemingly without effort massages everything away. In 90 minutes I felt utter relaxation and awe at the completeness of massage while never feeling discomfort as my muscles relaxed. She gently suggested intentions for our session that were spot on and was always present for temperature changes. Thanks! Incredible.

“Alison, and everyone at AG Massage, are truly talented in their work. With almost no guidance, Alison pinpoints my trouble areas and works with concentrated intension. Alison goes beyond the standard and consults with me about other methods, exercises or stretches, to further support my muscles and my overall health. I know the level of treatment I get at AG Massage is the very best quality and highly recommend AG Massage over any of the competition.
